A Sports Pet Peave
I'm not singling out Belichick, but why is the post-game interview with the losing coach always sound like a wake. I know there are a ton of emotions involved, but it's not like someone died.

For once, I'd like to hear a coach actually smile and not act like it's the end of the world.

For all the money they make, NFL coaches seem to be the most miserable people in the world.

1. I'll remember that
next time I miss a deadline or screw something up at work.

"Relax guys, it's not the end of the world."

It may be a game but it's also a j-o-b.

But you're right. NFL coaches are miserable human beings. Why do you think Pete Carroll is turning down NFL jobs left and right? He makes millions, lives in LA (nice if you millions), has his pick of the best athletes west of Texas, and has the easiest game-day coaching job possible.

3. I witnessed it first hand
Nick Saban in Miami was totally miserable for two years.

I understand your point that it's a job. But it's one of the best jobs you could have. Even if you get fired, you can walk away and collect money like Lane Kiffin will do in Oakland.

2. They believe in their teams and what they are doing. They love the
sport. I can understand it.

4. The Patriots almost had a perfect season.

My son, a Pat fan, is very bummed!

I can only imagine how the coach feels.

5. They have a lot invested in it and teams take on a family component
Suddenly the whole thing is over.

Having had a few championships in my sports career (early on) I know what it is like to end the season with a win but every other time, for me, and for 99% of the players in every sport at every level they end with a loss.

That is what makes sport so great. You have a number at the end of the day to know how you did and there is always next year.
