... with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato">Plato, http://www.meandertravel.com/samos/samospythagoras.htm">Pythagoras, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_the_Great">Alexander the Great?

I love stuff like this. Check in, o ye harlots and those given over to a reprobate mind!

1. I dunno...

... I just will never forget that during one of my graduate courses our professor came in with a replica of what Alex the Great's armour would have looked like... I was the only female in a recitation section of six, and all the guys were expecting to be able to try it on. Turns out that Alex was only a wee bit over 5 feet tall and around a 100 lbs... so I was the only one who could even wear it. Talk about empowering! Tee-hee!

So I'm guessing they were "small, mouthy, and mean"?

2. LOL...
... the program goes off at 11:30. If nobody guesses by then with the clues provided, I'll spill.

But your story?

3. All had subsequent writers claim a divine and/or immaculate birth.
Some evidence that the Early Church writers were tapping into a Greco-Roman "leadership" meme.

7. Zeus and Ganymede was not on the list of readings...
... that we did in Latin class, either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganymede_%28mythology%29">Ganymede's is just one of many such stories they censored.

:grr:

Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, and a few others were - shall we say, more open-minded than the scrubbed versions would have us believe. It's good to be a god!

6. Some versions are easier to get into than others.

For instance, I grew up in a church that said if it wasn't "the King James" (Version of the Bible), it wasn't right.

Of course, so few of those thumpers know that King James (who commissioned its translation) was - well - here's what the saying among his contemporaries was: "Rex fuit Elizabeth: nunc est regina Jacobus"

"Elizabeth was the King; now James is the Queen."

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22king+james%22+favourites">A whole new meaning to the term, "playing favourites."
