I discovered this weekend that I am Mr. Miyagi
So, Haruka and I are in our aikido class practicing a really basic hold. I'm holding her wrist, not hard at all, when she suddenly yells out in pain. Apparently, I caused a bunch of things in her hand to crack and pop. She claims that her hand felt broken for the next ten minutes, then it suddenly felt 100% okay for the FIRST TIME IN TWO MONTHS.

Yep -- TWO MONTHS. I was ready to kill her. We have great health insurance and she was ignoring constant pain in her hand for two months. She thinks she must have had a dislocation in her hand, and I popped it in place.

I feel like I'm Mr. Miyagi at the end of the first Karate Kid, when he somehow fixes Daniel-san's knee for the final fight.

1. Maybe she needs to strengthen the hand.
Try this exercise:

wax on,
wax off.

2. There's no way she would fall for that
Anyway, she already knows the technique behind "wax on, wax off."

She's a black belt in karate.

6. Nifty.
I worked my way up to orange belt in shoto-kan, but unfortunately my teacher moved across the country.

And now that I've moved across the country too, he's only about a 6 hour drive away. But that's still a bit much for regular lessons.

8. Yes -- that is a bit far
She has her black belt in Isshinryu, and she used to be into all that full-contact sparring.

5. Heheh
my dog fixed my bad back a few months back. I could barely even walk.

Was up in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep for the pain. A cat ran by, the dog lunged after the cat, I lunged after the dog and felt a POP in my back. Panicked, I sat right down in the chair behind me and was afraid to move for half an hour. Finally did... and the pain was all gone. I could walk upright for the first time in weeks.

7. I have a bad back, but all my dog does is jump on it
He's sooo not helpful in these matters, and don't even get me started on the cat.
