Dutch site worthy of a peek
I don't read Dutch (I tried studying it once; the language is like trying to gargle with thisles) but this page is definitely worthy of a peek. Let the Flash load, then wait a few seconds for it to activate.

I bet any American site to do something this creative would generate A LOT of drive-by traffic. :toast:

3. That's wicked cool!
Dutch is close enough to German that I can read a lot of it, but speak it? Nope.

5. The final thing says
The products you can find at HEMA, you can now also find at HEMA.nl

It's a shopping site for one of the largest Dutch department stores. More like a supercenter here, they carry everything. I used to love going to the one on Leyweg in Den Haag.

6. Now that is a clever way of presenting the
products and letting people know about a new way to access the products on-line.

9. I was in the Netherlands a few years ago, never had any problem using English
It was almost something of a let down: people heard my atrocious attempts with Dutch and switched to English easily.

My first night in Amsterdam, I ate in a nice pub kind of restaurant; the waitress spoke English to me right off. When my soft drink came with ice, I asked for a straw and it took a few trys to get the waitress to understand what I wanted. After we worked it out, I asked what they were called in Dutch so I wouldn't have this problem latter. She shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't speak Dutch; she was from Sweden in the Netherlands on an EU work visa for the summer, had been there two months already and had never had a patron who was not fluent in English.

I tell you, it is enough to make me ashamed of the American education system.

10. Americans can live in Amsterdam without having a language barrier
It's the best city of a primarily non-English speaking country that has that distinction

11. Must. hang. head. in. shame.
After 6 or 7 months I haven't even got a under construction sign up on my future website.
