I guess my SOs should stay away from me. Except they own and love swords too. :P

1. Then they're fine, because they can defend with their own swords if you go nuts and go at them with
yours. :)

I've got several swords myself... but unfortunately since I moved out, I don't have the most effective weapon we had in our apartment with me anymore because it belonged to my roommate.

That would be his baseball bat. :P

Much more effective against the cheap stainless steel crap people usually have these days. And easier to swing indoors without having to worry about it getting stuck in a wall mid-swing.

And since none of my swords are kept sharp, I'd wager the bat has a lot more 'stopping power' than any of the shiny steel blades scattered around my abode. Well, except maybe my broadsword... that one doesn't HAVE to be sharp. It's heavy enough to knock somebody the hell out, even if it doesn't break the skin.

3. It's getting damn near impossible to find quality blades
The market's been completely overrun with cheap Bud K-esque crap. Even Atlanta Cutlery/Museum Replicas, who were one of the better sources of quality live blades IMO, have gone downhill.

I plan to have a custom kris dagger forged by a local guy who does the Ren circuit out here. It'll cost me a pretty penny, but the guy does beautiful work--and his blades are as functional as they are shiny. He did a ritual dagger for a friend of mine and I was really impressed, he even incorporated her clan symbol (she's a Scot). :)

Naturally, for mine I'm going for a Dark Elf theme. :P

5. I would love to get into swordsmithing.

Between my interest in swords and my love of makin' stuff, that's something I'd love to get into.

But first I'm shooting for guitar making... as soon as I have the money to buy the parts I'm gonna try and put together my first electric guitar and go from there.

Oh, and for the record... not ALL of my swords are from Bud K... :P

6. LOL. I swore by Bud K as a broke teen.
When I worked at the magick shop, we used to order stuff from Bud K and mark it up like crazy. I got my first couple of blades from them.

But now that I'm older and can afford better stuff... :)

2. swords are "weird"?
huh. Was not aware of that, considering how they are a very ancient form of weapon, and much collected.
