Have you ever wanted to chuck it all and just disappear?
I mean, I'm this close to saying, "F**k it! I'm outta here!" Work, family, spouse, friends, the area I live in, the current political scene...I've had it!

Have you ever had this kind of day?

1. Three or four times a week.
And I have done it a few times too. But I always come back to my fantastic little rut.

3. Absolutely....
Sometimes on my commute home, I wonder what it would be like if I just kept on I-10 west until I got to California, where I could just start over...

Lived there from 1954-1979. I could start over, too!

10. There is a lot of truth in this statement...
I have found that every time I have left I continued to have the same problems. I have now concluded that I am the problem. Knowing that makes it easier to make the necessary changes. But I still blame my mom for everything. I can do both.

20. I do a lot of the times do, as does my wifie
We get tired of bitchy people, no good, self centered shlubs that couldn't give two shits about another human if there drowing or on fire.
People at work, people commuting, at stops lights, in stores everywhere..hell if it weren't for the people, this would be a helluva planet!

Seriously..we get up everyday, do our jobs, commiserate with each other, work hard, do what we feel is right, live our lives by Karmic retribution..in other words, what goes around comes around! And we dream...we dream of lottery wins, any kind of windfall that will give us the means and ways to move to an isolated island or place where we can live in peace and harmony....

Then the phone rings.........I'm at work.

Hang in there....we all need breaks once in a while...maybe a weekend away alone might be in the cards? Just regroup, think relax and calm down.

Sorry you're feeling this way, and as others have mentioned in the thread, we are all going through it in one way or another daily, weekly, yearly...

23. Sure
Every once in a while, I get the overwhelming fantasy of throwing everything in my car and driving to the only Buddhist monastery in North America that accepts women. Then I remember that my cat and dog would not be happy there, even if they'd let me bring them.

I also once confessed to my psychiatrist that while I've never seriously contemplated suicide, I've often considered flying to Hawaii and faking amnesia. He thought about that for a while, and responded "You'd probably hate Hawaii. You're more of a 'City' person".

A great shrink knows you better than you know yourself.

26. All my fantasies are about running away. They always have
been, but I've never done it. I remember a show called "Then Came Bronson" about a guy who just went from place to place every week on his motorcycle; I wanted to climb on back with him and just be gone! I was about 8 then and still have that yearning. But whoever said, you take yourself with you is right on target.

But I'm also looking at ways to change my life.

Actually, I've entered into a three-year plan to revamp my skills and education, finish projects around the house, pay down debt as much as possible, and split to another part of the country to a better job with better pay (I hope). I want to finish out my last 10-15 years in peaceful solitude and order.

33. Rainy Days And Mondays Always Get Me Down
yes yes yes
   :hi:

then something comes along and pulls me back to reality......

When fear is too terrible, when reality is too agonizing, we seek escape in manufactured danger, in the thrills and pleasures of pretending-in the amusement parks of our unamusing world. Here, in frantic pretending, Man finds escape and temporary peace, and goes home tired enough to sleep a short, deep sleep. But what happens here when night comes? When pretending ends, and reality begins?"

Probably is, you don't really disappear. You just end up somewhere else where all the crap starts all over again with a new set of characters.

... and with less money in your wallet.

I don't recommend it.

Bagged on a crappy marriage, ditched his job, the whole works. He turned up 5 years later in Germany. I asked him about it once, and all he had to say about it was he wouldn't do it again. The work we all do in our lives and relationships was still waiting for him, but now he was starting from square one handicapped by compounded fear and bitterness.
