so when my brother and I were trying to work out an RPG that didn't have the stupid simplicity of a lot of the ones out there (D20 system, I'm looking at you.), but without the ridiculous complexity and re-rolling of seventeen brazillion dice (Shadow Run, I'm looking at you), we decided to use the fibonacci sequence for just about everything. :)

20. And you're right on that answer, too ;)
First sequence (that everyone else got, because it's simple)

987+1597 = 2584
1597+2584 = 4181


Second possible sequence (the more complex or convoluted one)

1597-987 = 610
2584-1597 = 987

Subtract the differences
987-610 = 377

Add the second difference of the larger first differences
377+987 = 1364

Thus
1364+2584 = 3984
