I seem to recall a certain DU'er by the name of youngred. Wonder what happened to him?

After what happened in the 2000 elections I wasn't a reasonable person, so I didn't post much.
Now I'm feeling so much better because I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Also I discovered how warm and friendly the lounge can be and I'm posting more.
I've been coming to DU several times a day for all these years and I often think about some of the people from the beginning and wonder if they are lurking too.

The first time I posted in 2001 gore1fl welcomed me aboard.

That stinks, if true. He was a prominent poster when I joined DU in late 2002. I thought he had an excellent real world perspective, instead of jumping aboard the "we'll sweep every race!" garbage. That led many DUers to knock him but I appreciated his posts.

In particular, he was correctly pessimistic throughout 2004, realizing Bush was a tougher out than most Democrats dared to understand. He agreed with many of us that Edwards had superior opportunity to oust Bush than a bland New Englander like Kerry.

I met him in person when I visited the United States -he is a very kind, warm, generous and caring person with a great deal of insight and knowledge about politics and current events. He was also a great asset to this forum and a great person to have as a friend. I lost touch with him unfortunately

I also miss so many others who no longer seem to be on this board -Cluedin, ZenLefty, MrJinx, DemExpat, Mclam, Crewleader, JackRabbit,Babette, Scubadude, Kimchi, Maeve, NYYFan GregW, MVD and so many countless others others. I'm sorry - there are a whole lot of others whom I miss but my mind has just gone blank for some reason

But in particular NY99 -she was a great asset to this forum and a wonderful, welcoming person to both new and longtime DU'ers. She was also a great moderator

I haven't seen mvd or idgiehkt (I think I spelled that right) around here in at least a couple of months. Those are a couple of DUers whose posts I always liked to read.

One that I remember from quite a while back; does anyone remember a poster w/ a username along the lines of coloradodem_2004 or something like that? (I don't mean the CO Liberal of the whole "Fat Actress" flamewar.) This was a guy in his twenties who posted about music a lot, and often seemed to be depressed. I kind of worried about what became of him when I realized I wasn't seeing his posts anymore.

He was a big Dean supporter. Changed his name from vermontdem2004 to coloradodem2004, after Dean pulled out and when Skinner allowed a brief window to change user names and retain post counts.

Admittedly, this has been several years so I hope I'm getting this right, and not morphing two users. But I don't think I am.

I was impressed by coloradodem2004. He knew politics and sports and many other subjects. Had a Colorado Avalanche avatar, at least for a while. I remember threads with jiacinto, coloradodem2004 and I discussing likely voting trends in obscure races.

My memory is somewhat similar to yours, that he began posting less often and seemed to be having personal troubles. I hope everything worked out well for him, regardless if he shows up on DU again.

She would start threads in the Lounge that lasted all day on Saturdays during college football season. She was a huge SEC fan -- I think Auburn, first and foremost -- so those threads really got active during the big SEC tilts.

Very knowledgeable about football, and she used good humor while agreeing to stop saying Southern Cal as a reference for my alma mater USC. That's one of my ultimate pet peeves. No one at USC calls it Southern Cal.
