1. Batman, clearly - that one has a good director. |
|
I'm sure Indiana Jones will be pretty good, but not stellar or amazing. Batman is going to be another phenomenally well done movie.
Indy will be well-acted by Ford, but the directing, editing, cinematography, and script will be phoned in.
But, I could be wrong.

5. The director of Munich is a bit more than "good" |
|

I love Nolan plenty, but he ain't the Maestro. Sure, the Dark Knight will be the superior film, but only because Spielberg's heart isn't into helming popcorn movies anymore. After Indy IV, he should set on making Schindlers, Munichs, and Lincolns.

7. The director of Munich is hit and miss, and scores an exceptional movie by blind shithouse luck. |
|
When he can manage to turn off the intense need for emotional manipulation and pedestrian camera work and uninspiring acting, he makes the occasional good film.
But the director of Munich and 1941 and Jaws is also the director of ET, AI, War of the Worlds, Minority Report, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Hook, The Color Purple, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and other abominations to the world of art.

8. 1941? Are you serious? |
|
E.T., A.I., and Minority Report are abominations, but 1941 is comparable to Jaws and Munich?
I'm bailing out of this madhouse.

My predictions:
1. Indy IV will be no better or worse than Last Crusade. (And remember, even a second-rate Indy adventure is preferable to any other action flick.)
2. The Dark Knight will not only be admitted into the Godfather II/Empire Strikes Back club, but be the first comic-book film to secure a nomination for Best Picture. I'm serious.

Though it's going to be hard to top the last one. Harrison Ford and Sean Connery? ~swoon~

But I tend to go for more adventure/lighthearted fare. I don't really want to be bombarded with images of darkness, pain and evil - too much of that in real life. I'll eventually see the new Batman, but I'm looking forward to Indiana Jones.
Edited to add: I wish Sean Connery hadn't been a poo-head and had joined the Indy fray again. That would have been fun - yes, maybe too much scenery chewing, but fun anyway.

Indiana was fun in the day but it began to loose it's appeal for me already in the last couple of sequels and now after all this time ... I don't think so.

18. Anxious to see both, but I think Batman will be better |
|
two great actors in the lead roles.
Ford is a good action star, though, and it will be nice to see Indy on the screen one last time.
