|
I work at San Francisco International, and whenever I have a boarding pass that shows "Washington/Reagan" I cross off the second part and write "National".
I've not had a single complaint!

If I can't fly into Dulles or BWI, I fly somewhere else and rent a fucking car.
What kind of sick fucking shit is that to name a goddamn airport after that fucking fuckwad?

Fired the whole lot of them. Then they have the audacity to kick the ATCs in the groin by naming the fucking airport after him.

10. DC also named the International Trade building after him. |
|
Fitting . . . seeing as how he only thought of foreigners as cheap labor and nothing more.
Even though it would be convenient for me to fly into National, I don't. BWI instead when I visit the sister and nephew.

The big international airport used to be called Dorval. It was renamed Pierre Elliot Trudeau international airport after one of our late prime ministers. The airport code is now PET. Pet is the french word for fart. Needless to say, I still call it Dorval airport.

Was that the repukes in Congress threatened to withold money from Metro (DC's subway) until they spent the money to change the name on ALL their signs. Yeah. Struggling but critical Public Transport and the fuckers make Metro pay for that shit....:grr: :grr: :grr:

from Houston Interplanetary, which is what it was called when i lived there.
Idlewild was renamed so long ago, i'm sort of okay with it being JFK.
but as much as i love Louis Armstrong, it's still Moisant to me.

I had a layover at IAH last year and there was a bronze statue of Satan himself. I wanted to take a hacksaw to it and lop the head off the same way Bart Simpson did.

34. When Scoop Jackson died, they tried to rename Sea-Tac airport after him |
|
The idea was overwhelmingly rejected by the public and they had to change it back.
And this was years before we knew what had become of Scoop's former staffers (two of them were named Perle and Wolfowitz)

The worst part, for me personally since I never actually go to that airport, is all the freakin' signs everywhere. Way down on the south side of Houston I see signs that point me to George Bush.
Not the way I want to wake up in the morning. Makes the wait in the traffic just that much more nauseating.

"I like National, it's my favorite runway."
Referring to the fact that those runways don't go off axis very far, and a little crosswind at slow landing speed is NOT my idea of fun.

I too never use the RR moniker for it. Of course, prior to its renovations, National was always a miserable airport anyways, so if any airport deserves the RR name, that would be it. After renovations, it looks great, but was rendered impractical after Sept. 11th and security issues. Oh well. I always fly BWI anyways when I go to Maryland so that's neither here nor there.

42. I subscribe to XM and there's a traffic and weather channel for the DC area |
|
The midday announcer, I forget her name, refuses to say Reagan National Airport. For awhile, she called it Washington National Airport and lately all I've heard her say is National Airport or she just wouldn't mention it during the weather.
We still call it National, just as we still call the Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport BWI.
Although, it might be fun to call it Marshall Field......
And I haven't been to Houston since 1991 and hopefully will never see that pit again.
