There's an opossum in my garage.
It scared the ever-lovin' motherfuckin' SHIT out of me. My cats are freaking out at the garage door (it's an attached garage).

What should I do?

:scared:

5. They WILL bite if given the chance.
I had a mama possum make a home in a pheasant enclosure. Got her in a have-a-heart trap and relocated her, then caught five babies, one at a time and handled them with heavy leather gloves. The sixth one, well, I got cocky and didn't bother with the gloves. OUCH!!!

6. hell, I'll bite
given the chance.

But possums are pretty docile. I've shooed many of 'em out of my house.

4. No worries- they're very gentle & docile creatures. They'll wander away rather than fight.
Make sure it has a clear escape route, and gently shoo it out
with a broom.

If it hides instead of leaving immediately, just maintain the
program of gently harassing it regularly for a few days. It will
eventually decide that the convenience of "garage living" isn't
worth the hassle, and will seek a more broom-free nesting spot.

7. Unless it is from Missouri!
Then you may want to move. That is if he likes your house. If he doesn't, he'll leave soon. And do not corner them! They will either fight or play dead. If they play dead, they stink to high heaven!
