Woman arrested: beer gets a seatbelt, baby doesn't.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (AP) -- Police have arrested a motorist they say had a 24-pack of beer strapped in with a seat belt but had a 16-month-old girl unrestrained in the back seat with the toddler's mother.

Tina D. Williams was pulled over in St. Augustine on Sunday for allegedly running a red light.

A 24-pack of Busch beer was strapped in with the passenger-side seat belt, according to an arrest report. The girl was in the back seat with 20-year-old Amber Tedrick, who is the toddler's mother.

Williams, 46, said she didn't know why the child wasn't restrained.

Beer wore seatbelt, man did not

Published: Jan. 8, 2008 at 4:27 PM

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- California police said a man who was injured after losing control of his car was not wearing a seatbelt -- but his 12-pack of beer was buckled in snugly.

Officers in the town of Citrus Heights said witness accounts indicated that Alexsandr Gritsyuk failed to negotiate a turn while traveling at about 60 miles per hour on a city road and struck a tree, KCRA-TV, Sacramento, Calif., reported Tuesday.

The police said Gritsyuk, who was treated for his injuries, did not appear to be wearing his seatbelt during the incident, but a 12-pack of beer he was transporting in the car was securely buckled.
