Somewhere in history a secret kitty code
got passed down through the ages that when a vacuum cleaner gets turned on (or even reached for), cats run for the hills....something bad must have happened a LONG time ago and it remains deeply embedded within their little kitty brains. Now I know how lion tamers do it....they keep a vacuum within reach. Just a thought....as I finally found my kitty. (Yes, I just got done cleaning.)

1. That tail needs vacuuming.
Better get your vacuum out again.

3. Are cats aware that they have tails?
They often seem to forget this little factoid...

14. Actually, they do forget
I can't remember where I read it, but apparently cats do not associate their tail as being part of their trunk, so to speak. As a result, when they hide they don't remember that their tail is attached to them, and that it sticks out from behind furniture.

4. I had a cat for 21 years
who didnt mind a vaccuum cleaner. In fact she would nap on my upright when it was off, and if I turned it on while she was sleeping on it, she would just give me a nasty look because I woke her up.

She was a very odd cat, however, and she would hop in my car hoping to go for a ride whenever she got the chance and follow me if I took a walk even for a couple of miles. She often chased dogs or just teased them.

Her name was Genghis Khan. She must have missed the secret vaccuum kitty code.

6. I call the thing "the cat sucker."
But I know a guy who owns a vacuum shop and he's got a long haired cat that loves to get sucked! (w/the vac).

7. See, when ours hide like that...
I like to reach down and get their tail. It is hilarious how fast it disappears.

11. Nature abhors a vacuum.
But not always. My cat Leonard (RIP) loved to have his belly vacuumed. In fact, it would get him, um, excited. I am not making this up.

12. When I'm vacuuming, the beagle stands between me and the vacuum.
Very alert, tail up. She comes running when I turn it on. I'm pretty sure she's protecting me from it.
