Learned something in German class today... |
|
It's not uncommon for people in Germany to have a beer with their breakfast.
I have had beerflakes before, but not for breakfast.

: That's incorrect . For breakfast it's coffee; tea in the coastal areas.
A few years ago a beer at lunchtime wasn't unusual, but now you'll see that only in very rural areas - per capita beer consumption in Germany is dropping fast. It's not even nearly the highest in Europe anymore.
Edited for grammar.

Granted, this photo looked like it may have been taken sometime in the mid to late 70s.

Appearing for work after a beer would probably be enough to get fired on the spot; for certain if wasn't the first time.
But to be honest: on weekends and Fests it isn't that unusual: having a "Frühschoppen" is a tradition, especially in southern Germany. It's hardly a breakfast, more like a AM Diner.

8. I stayed at a German home... |

...and they didn't have beer for breakfast. A surreal amount of boiled sausages with mustard, though. Two different varieties. :hurts:
