today is my 30th anniversary
30 years ago today I took the oath of office and became a rookie firefighter. I have no idea where the time has gone, it doesn't seem like it was all that long ago. Boy do I feel old right now.

If I want I can retire in 3 years, but that depends on how I feel and the political atmosphere.

9. I retired at 48
but my wife works full time so being home isn't an issue. The only way I know its Saturday is that my Wife is still in the house when I get up. I think she'll stop working the day she dies.

10. she wants me to get a part time job
no way am I going to be a greeter at Wal-Mart or a security guard. Nothing wrong with those jobs but I've run into former coworkers that were in positions of authority and seeing them pumping gas or guarding a parking lot felt funny.

12. I would get a part time job
if the right situation came about. Sometimes I have way too much time on my hands. And I have gotten into the bad habit of putting things off because I know I have plenty of time to "get to it." I was "in charge" in the Navy. I'd rather not get a similar position. One of my shipmates who was more "in charge" then I was took a job as a toll booth collector at the Crescent City Connection Bridge in New Orleans and he loves it.

Maybe you can go to school or do charity or service work. Actually, do what you want to do. She'll still love ya.

17. I have a gaming buddy that's retiring from the Navy
currently assigned to Newport News. My cousin also retired from the Navy after 21 yrs. He did 14 years in submarine service. Now he's a civilian contractor. Have no idea what he does but he's happy doing it.
