A poem for FNORD, a fellow DUer

It's been five months and four days since we parted,
on that clear mild autumn day
where we left each other broken hearted
and my innocence behind,
in discovering a depth of pain
I've never known before.

I do not understand this pain I feel,
it was not supposed to be this way,
we were not happy, i tell myself,
we are much better off this way...

Even though you were my best friend
Even though I'll love you 'til my dying breath
Even in wondering if I'll ever love again...

I remind myself once more,
we are much better off this way...

Even though I miss the bliss in your song
Even though for your comraderie I still long
Even though we've travelled so many miles
Even though we've shared so many smiles

we are much happier now today,
i remind myself once again

Since that perfect autumn day
when you went away
I've tried everything I can
To subside this pain I can't stand
I've tried to hide, I've tried to run
I've tried everything under the sun
But it's no use, and the pain is more intense
Than I could have ever fathomed.

I've been waiting for these wounds to heal
from the most intense hurt i feel

And when I see and feel
another perfect autumn day
I shall think of you.
