Cat check!
Where are your cats right now?

Milo and Jeoffry are sleeping in a heap on top of the refrigerator. Pixie is in another dimension for the time being, but she'll turn up as soon as I open the cat food bag.

What are yours doing?

5. Cat location update
Imhotep: picketing (loudly) for dinner while I'm typing this
Neutrino: in my spot on the couch watching BeerFest with the s.o.
Quark: following Imhotep for no ostensible reason since he's already had dinner
Evie: passed out on top of the kitty tower
Plato: passed out flat on his back in the master bedroom
Socrates: passed out flat on his back at the other end of the master bedroom

That is all. :P

6. Jeff is on the kitchen counter playing with the dripping faucet
A favorite past-time. His brother Mutt-Mutt is sitting on the hassock across from me, watching out the sliding glass door, mostly watching for his mother, who is feral and lives under our deck.

Momma Cat is very friendly, but absolutely refuses to come in the house, but visits all the time for free food and a good rub-up.

Marble, my sons' little Tuxedo female is curled up sleeping on his bed, waiting for him to come home from work (he is a cook at Olive Garden.....go ahead, I'll wait). She is a ferocious little thing, and brooks nonsense from no one.

And our old tom Hobbes, who's slowly fading by degrees, is curled up in the front room on the back top of a chair with a good window angle for watching the drive for my son, who he loves beyond all reasoning.

He is all black, and has been my second oldest' shadow for fourteen years. Wherever he goes, Hobbes is right next to him.

Always.

22. "Time out" - I love it!
I thought I was the only one who used that phrase. Miranda is the naughtier of my two. She likes to wake me up in the middle of the night by jumping on the nightstand and scratching on the mirror. After two warnings, she gets a time out, which involves me chasing her around the apartment until I can catch her. Last time, she didn't run at all - I think she likes the quiet privacy of the bathroom in the middle of the night. 20 minutes usually does the trick, then she behaves until next time.

had to use the facilities. But it worked. Monster's anger was gone and my scratches had begun to heal. I tell ya - I love that guy. 99% of the time he is a lovebug.

41. Lego is a mere 18 lbs
He is a Norwegian Forrest Cat. My son rescued him from the vet office where he worked. Lego's previous owners couldn't keep him and had decided to have him put to sleep.

You can actually feel his rib cage and he has no fatty deposits like you normally see on overweight cats.

He is the Dark Overlord here and keeps the 80 lb. Labrador, Nixon, in check at all times.

19. They're all in the living room...
Riley and I just went for a "walk," so the other two are busy sniffing him, trying to figure out exactly where he's been and what he touched.

A little background: I have three VERY indoor cats. But Riley lived with me back in Nebraska and I lived in an area that was conducive to cat walks. Here in L.A., not so much, but every once in a while, Riley insists upon going outside. I live on a quiet, dead-end residential street, so I humor him occasionally. For "cat walks," I strap him up in his harness, hook on a leash and take him out to the front yard. Today is extremely nice...sunny and about 80, so I took along a book for myself. He lasted all of 10 minutes. One person walked past. Just walked, mind you...on the sidewalk past our yard...and he completely flipped his shit. Back indoors we went.

But now the other cats are highly confused by his earthy smell!

28. Upstairs
lying in wait for me to come to bed later. As soon as I start up the stairs, she starts meowing incessantly waiting for me to get in bed. If I stop half way up the steps, she'll just keep meowing and meowing as she heads for the bed to wait for me. She knows it's time for snuggles and scritches. I think she thinks I can scritch all night long!

He had surgery and kept ripping apart the bandage (and his stitches) so now he has a sweater over his stitches until he gets them out. He likes it better than the bandage but spends too much time licking it.

The other cats, they are sleeping.
