I didn't used to be into cheddar, but sometimes it gets the job done.

Blue cheese is good in TEENY bits, but if there's a lot of it, gross. :P

43. Something I got once had blue cheese in it...accidentally...
it tasted like hot :puke:

I've had the finest in cheeses, and I know what I like.
My favorites are Cotswold (with chives and onion) Red Dragon (with mustard seeds) and English Farmhouse Cheddar with imported Green Vegetable Pickle on the side.

33. I have to agree with your assessment of bleu cheese
however, I have resolved to be more adventurous in trying cheeses.

As a rule, I don't like soft or fresh cheeses like cream cheese, but I like ricotta in stuff, and Mozerella, so ....

I like a lot of Italian aged cheeses like Parmagian (Parmesan?), Romano, Asiago

I love cheddar!

40. I used to feel the same way
about bleu cheese a very long time ago and then I started eating buffalo wings. With chunky bleu cheese dressing. Before long, I was only eating the wings for the dressing. They became nothing but the delivery system for what I really craved...the bleu cheese! Now I love bleu and gorgonzola on so many things! Sometimes just by themselves. Awesome!

The list goes on. Most of them I don't even know the name. My local cheese shop gives me a taste, I buy some, love it, then have no idea what I just ate. Although a good old sharp cheddar is lovely as well.

8. It's the casomorphines.
Your body's supposed to respond to them, they're there to keep mammalian babies on the tit. Only they get concentrated a lot more in cheese than in human milk, and they play with the opiate receptors. It's all a chemical thing.

Once you stop eating the stuff, it really loses it's appeal after a few weeks. The addiction wears off.

and lemme tell ya... I felt OWNED by dairy. OWNED I tell ya.

Like, I would become OBSESSED with ice cream and other really intense dairy products I don't usually eat.

It was sort of like the sausage craving when I went vegetarian, but one hundred times worse. :(

30. Agreed.
I even switched to Soy Delicious for my ice cream, which was my only other non-vegan addiction.

Plus, if you eat the whole pint, you get 100% of your daily fiber. (joke)

But unfortunately, cheese isn't something that can be duplicated as deliciously.

Vegan cheese is awesome, but only when MELTED, and blended in with other nice vegan ingredients. Luckily I live two blocks from a co-op, so I can buy the most cruelty-free cheese, from local farmers, and on the cheap.

I'll just add that vegan meats are, for the most part, tastier than regular meats. I think it's because the "yuck" factor of eating dead flesh is removed, and a ton of yummier spices are added out of necessity. It's still unhealthy, and packed with sodium, but it gives my occasional craving for meat a nice fix.

34. I have, of late, re-discovered feta
Sprinkle a bit on a burger and it's like my tongue comes.

I believe I shall next try this with bleu cheese, or perhaps gorgonzola.

For sammiches, generally aged Swiss, provolone or mozzarella.

Alone, smoked gouda, muenster or edam. Maybe a sharp cheddar.
