My entry: "grok"

Someone somewhere started popularizing grok as "I grok it" meaning "I get it" and was supposed to be "nerdspeak" although I personally have never heard anyone in real life use the word.

Nevertheless it insisted in floating around for years (early '90's, I think).

that's how the website http://www.groklaw.net got its name.

I understand the term actually comes from a very old science fiction book, where the term was an alien word that literally meant "to drink." Hackers used the word to denote understanding so deep that you almost become one with the subject.
