Ipod help needed...
Sorry, this is probably a stupid question as I'm not good with this stuff at all. Can someone explain how you transfer an ipod that's synced with an old computer to a new one? I tried looking it up on the iTunes site, but I didn't really find instructions. :dunce:

1. Is your iTunes library on the new computer?
If so, then when you plug in the iPod, iTunes will ask if you want to associate with the new computer.

If your library is NOT on the new computer, I suggest putting it on an external harddrive, then plugging that into the new computer. iTunes will see the files and copy them over.

2. Hook it up.
When it asks if you want to erase the contents and sync with the new computer, say yes.

This is, of course, assuming you moved your library to the new computer. If you haven't, you can either do it manually (look for "transfer iTunes library") or download CopyPod to take everything off your pod and put it into the new computer's iTunes.

3. ITunes is designed to sync Ipod with PC, not the other way around
You'll never find anything on an Apple or ITunes site, or any features built in to help you.

Here's a link that I think describes the process (it's a little involved, so follow each step closely). You'll need ITunes loaded on the new computer:

I've done this before when I had to pave over my PC, and didn't want to reload all the CDs again.

5. There is a non-synch manual setting
I put my iPod on Manual when I first got it. I use my Mac for a lot of graphics applications, so I didn't want to fill up the hard drive with Music. When I got a new iMac it (naturally) had the same passwords for iTunes as the old one, so there was nothing left to do but press the "no" key when it asked if I wanted to synch it with the new Mac.

4. Click on "Ipod" under "Devices"
then check "manually manage music"

You won't have to delete a thing. At least that's how I do it.
