Is this funny or mean?

I am a senior in college, and last year we were asked by the class president to send in suggestions for who we would like our commencement speaker to be. So we did, and it was kind of a big deal - I mean, people formed Facebook groups supporting certain potential speakers, and some of these groups had several hundred people (our entire undergraduate population is only about 5,000). Anyway, so we sent in our nominations, and we haven't heard anything since then, until today when the class of 2008 got an e-mail with the subject line: "Class of 2008: Graduation Speaker Announced!" It's from the class president using the official listserv, so I got kind of excited, and opened the e-mail...which basically said, "Ha ha, just kidding. Come to our fundraising date auction though!!1!!1!" x(

I was pissed, but apparently the class clown president thought it was funny. Your thoughts?

It's a lame form of humour. I work with a guy who pulls that kind of crap all the time. He's harmless. I know he doesn't realise he's the only one laughing and the rest of us always respond with the same "You suck." :shrug:

5. The thing is

we had elections for class officers, like, the first month of school freshman year, so nobody really knew yet just how big of a douchebag this guy was. And once the class officers are instated, that's pretty much it. :shrug:

x( I'm pretty sure this guy would've gotten the boot by sophomore year at least, but there's not much we can do. Dude's even been thrown in jail (okay, so it was for public drunkenness, relatively minor considering), but he's still class president. :eyes: Go figure. :hi:
