I had to say goodbye today...(sad)

Last night I found one of my cats had an abcess on his leg...it had opened, drained, but he wouldn't let me look at it.
Since this is a four-hand job, we had to go to the vet. Wound draining OK, Riktor gets a shot (he cussed about that, but otherwise was a perfect gentleman all through the process...including having to have some fur shaved), pay the bill, and come home.

Only to find MacFeegle, my Baby Kitty, lying on the floor. Gone.
He looked as though someone had just switched him off in midstride- not a mark on him, no sign of choking, just...dead.

MacFeegle was only eighteen months old. He'd just had his adult rabies shot last week, and the vet pronounced him fine, fit and healthy, as well as a beautiful boy.

My fearless, loving, exuberant, gallant Feegle...who'd always turn around, come back and greet me a second time everytime he came inside. Who'd jump up on my chest, wind his 'arms' around my neck, putting his cheek right next to mine, purr me to sleep. Who greeted everyone with a leg rub and a shoe roll, leading with the shoulders like he couldn't WAIT to rub against your shins.
Who'd come bounding over the neighbor's roof and down the tree and under the fence when called, his distinctive rocking-horse gait demonstrating he was a happy cat.
Sitting beside me, waiting for me to share...the crouch, the round eyes and SPRING when I would toss something. Or him signaling that he was about to jump into my lap by his tail snaking back and forth right before the jump.
Wrestling with his little brudder Wimsey...beautiful extremes, one black, one white...strong, powerful wrestling moves, leaping and throwing each other all over... yet no claws extended, no ears back, though both tails are whipping like crazy.

I don't know what caused this...vet thinks maybe an embolism. It looked as though it had been fast and he didn't look scared or anything...just damn it...this wasn't supposed to happen for years and years and years yet! :cry:

RIP sweet MacFeegle - poor sweet little fella. So hard no matter what, but whenever it is totally unexpected because of youth or a freak accident, it just seems like the universe is messed up.

9. Wow, Poor MacFeegle........ I know you must be in shock

Especially not knowing what happened to him. I've had a couple of my cats die at home, but they were very ill. We had to put down a couple. Very hard decision to have to make. Renal failure, which is what has killed off most of my cats.

I hope Riktor gets better.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You, MacFeegle, Wimsey, and Riktor are in my thoughts.

But I will miss him so...

I'm so sorry for you. I know how much these little guys can mean to one. We had to let one of our older cats go just a few days ago. At least he had a long, happy life.
With a youngster like that, it must be truly devastating.
