I lived in South Africa during the late apartheid era, where as an African American, I was usually taken for a black South African. I did research at a university and joined a UDF affiliated organization. Purely by accident, one day, I was sort of caught in the middle of a firefight in a parking of a hospital that erupted between rival political organizations. Along with many other people, I hid under a window in the small, cramped emergency room. A few minutes later, I saw the victims wheeled in, and saw several people die of gunshot wounds right before my eyes.

I've also met three heads of state but only one while he was in office and that was a ceremonial head of state of a tiny country. My old prof from college, a prominent Nigerian, introduced me to Namdi Azikiwe, the first president of Nigeria. I actually had a long chat with the current president of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki, and my then boss, back in the 80s, when Mbeki was an obscure ANC bureacrat based in Zambia. And I had tea with the Governor General of Grenada in the early 90s.

Since adolescence I have had an attraction to women with body hair. Hairy legs have been my favorite, but I also like hairy arms, armpits, etc. I have for a long time wished that women, in non-trivial numbers, would let their body hair grow out, and have never been able to understand why just about anything should be acceptable in our society except for natural body hair on women.

I find very sexy a woman with body hair who likes and is not ashamed of her natural state and her natural hair.

4) I am a second generation 3rd culture kid ... that's someone who grew up outside of their country of origin/citizen (lots of military kids are TCK's). My mom grew up in Columbia (in Medellin, no less) and I grew up in Beirut, Lebanon (what is it with my family and places we live becoming violent disasters :)) - left in 75 after a year of the civil war. Most interesting events there - being evacuated during the 6 day war and then the true start of the civil war violence which was a bomb blowing up in the office building across the street from our apartment. When we left Beirut in 75 we first went to Greece and while we were in Athens there was a total lunar eclipse the same night we went up on the Acropolis to view it in the moonlight - a guy on my floor in the dorms at UCSB was in Athens on the Acropolis the same night.
