7. I was thinking primarily of firearms |
|
which would not include air rifles, laser tag, paint ball, air-soft and/or squirt guns.

If so, then yes. If not... then nope. Never touched a loaded gun as far as I know.

10. I got a 25 caliber once |
|
was trying to figure it out, and damn near shot myself.
It didn't scare me away from guns, but it sure did cause me to be much more cautious when having one around.

For the love of your favorite deity (I like the FSM), I hope you got some safety lessons.
The three basic general rules of safe gun handling: 1. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction; never point a firearm at anyone or anything you don't want to shoot. 2. Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. 3. Keep the action open and the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.

I actually own a rifle that my grandfather gave me that sits stored in the ceiling tiles of my office. I've touched it twice - once to put it up there and once to take some photos of it.
I have no idea why he gave this to me. I've only kept it in case any of my kids/nieces/nephews ever want it cause I am pretty sure I'll never use it.

16. May I suggest that you DO touch it once in a while, to keep it clean and in good condition |
|
by oiling it and so forth?
Otherwise, it will sit and rot, and then there won't be anything.

21. An excellent suggestion that I have followed actually |
|
Although I get someone else to do it. One of my employees actually does hunt and he's taken it out, cleaned and oiled it, and shot with it, twice in the past 5 - 6 years. It's funny you should mention it because he just came to me a few weeks ago to remind me about it, and so we dutifully trooped up to my office and he took it out. It was jamming (okay so the full extent of my pathetic gun knowledge is coming into play here - I believe he said it was the bolt action - ??? - and it's actually at Gander Mountain as we speak getting repaired. Of course he took it in for me!)
If he ever leaves I'll have to get someone else to help me since nobody else in my family, including my husband, takes any interest. My nieces and nephews are all too young still too.
Anyway, you are absolutely right!

She has a serious 'hard-on' against guns in any way shape or form. And she didn't get it from me.

I pretty much fit the profile of the stereotypical NRA member (southern small-town while male) but I've never shot a gun with anything more lethal in it than water.

I've never had a desire to shoot a firearm of any kind. Just holding them makes me nervous.
