Well, what happened was, I quit. They were chiseling everyone's hours down to nothing. From 38 hours a week to, get this, four. Like one day a week. Like 4 hours a day. So we got to do 5 other people's jobs free. It was really disgusting. So I said "I can't do this anymore".

on the thread and panicked a little when I didn't see it.

My DAD, who raised my bro & me singlehandedly, was a co girl scout leader too, because I was in the troop. When I got my badges, one of the mothers handed him my sash and badges. Said, "Get someone to sew these on for ya". He'd been doing all the sewing & mending since my bro & I were babies.

I know you'll have so much fun with that.

I did not appreciate it at the time, but I am glad my mom taught me how to sew and mend. Especially since my iron is too hot to do the iron on patches (I melted my daughter's Daisy smock).

And he cooked really well, too. He kept a record of our meals so we'd not get the same thing too much. I learned to sew because when I was in jr. high school, all the girls had to take a class on it.:)

I cannot know, I can't EVER know what you are going through. Your pain reaches me as though you're not a stranger to me, but someone who has articulated the wounds and the anger and the sadness with such force I feel compelled to care a lot. I wish you some peace, Laura. I hope you experience one of those moments, once in a while, where you recognize peace.
