I Hate When It Snows And The Plows Thunder Through Every Ten Minutes. |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 11:38 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
It scares the shit out of my oldest son, Justin, since the sound goes right through his room. I have to run in there every ten minutes to soothe him again, and I have a feeling I'm in for a longgggggg night.
Any of you dealing with the same thing?

1. We're lucky to get one plow a day |
|
...kind of no matter how much it snows. Which lately has been a lot, I've got something of a tunnel out to the street. :)

3. I don't know that I've ever seen a snow plow. |
|
But I'm near a hospital, so for the first month or so we lived here everytime an ambulance went by I'd have to explain to LK that no, that wasn't the police, and yes, everything is okay.
Now he just asks me if the sick people are going to be all right. He's still young enough that he thinks I know these things.

The answer is yes. As long as you can possibly give it. :hi:

5. Around here, they do most of the plowing at 2:00 AM |
|
So I get to hear the loud plows when I'm in bed trying to sleep. And if the shoveling was done that night, I get to wake up to my driveway being plowed in.

9. Yeah that's what I was thinking |
|
I wish the plows would come around more often. The roads have been pretty treacherous this winter. The other day I turned a corner and the car did a pretty cool fish tail and slid right over to the curb. My 11 year old said to me "That was sorta fun BUT DON'T DO IT AGAIN!" I tended to agree.

11. That's one. The other: We have an ice storm on the way. |
|
That means probable power outages. We can sit here in the silence, cold and dark or the line men can get to the broken cable.
A couple more: Medical emergency and the meat wagon can't get up your street, thanks to a foot or more of snow. Personal nightmare -- house fire.

13. generally speaking my city doesn't do the world's best job plowing and salting |
|
however I'm only 1 block from the main route to the hospital and that road always gets plowed really well. We actually had a medical emergency during one of the storms a couple weeks back. Times like that really make you appreciate living close to a hospital. Unfortunately between my parents we've had to make that run far too many times.

14. We're rural and the closest hospital is 15 miles away. |
|
That's a long 15 miles on a day like today.

8. I'm listening to it right now |
|
We're having a snowstorm right now and you can hear the scraping of the snowplow going up and down the street outside my balcony as I'm on the air. It sounds pretty grating...
