1. I tried on a slip and found it to be incredibly tight and |
|
uncomfortable, but there were no 'unseemly' lines at all. I wear a size 6, and was miserable in anything but the large slip (the medium one felt like I had ace bandages around my midsection). So the sizing to me also seemed a bit off. I don't care that I was in a large, but what the hell is a woman who wears a 10 supposed to do?
What are you looking for? I have heard the hosiery is nice, and half the price of Wolford, but for hose you'll never convince me that Wolford is anything but the very best (and $$$$, but I wear hose so infrequently that to me it is important to be comfortable -- I've also had a pair of Wolford hose last me 3 years).
If you're not wearing binding, clingy clothes, I think Spanx are a bunch of uncomfortable crap. If you do tend to wear things that are a tad more form-fitting, then a slip or hose might be worth it.
If I were you, though, I don't think I'd buy them online unless you can return the item; try a pair at a local Nordstrom's if you can...

2. the outfit I have in mind |
|
is a clingy wrap type dress (A Gloria Vanderbilt knockoff but in that slippery fabric) and I don't want vpl or even visible bra marks on the back if I can help it. I've got similar slip-type thingie with the bra built in so there are no lines whatsoever but the wrap dress has a tendency to slip a bit where it crosses at the chest and I don't really want the bra to stick out. But perhaps a bit of double sided tape would hold that in place. I've never tried tape though, is there a special clothing tape or do you just use the double-sided stuff from the office store? I'm totally clueless when it comes to this shit.

4. I believe there is special lingerie double-sided tape... |
|
but I've never used it so I'm not sure. I love wrap dresses, but have given up on them staying in place so I just wear a matching/color-compatible camisole underneath, so if the dress at the "V" slips, my bra isn't visible but a pretty lacy camisole is. Depends on how much cleavage you want to show. If you want to wear the dress sans-cami, double sided tape would be a good solution...

3. The last pair I tried were uncomfortable. I ended up |

bringing them back to Saks.

5. glad it wasn't just me --- |

I was so pissed and uncomfortable by the time I got the slip on and the dress over it that I had a feeling if I wore the slip I'd just be mean and hostile all day. lol.
