Fastest Jury Duty experience ever.
We have freezing rain her today. I drove into the jury selection room in my wheelchair and waited with about 500 other people to turn in our summons so they could take attendance.

The jury manager said to me, "You look like you're in a lot of pain."

I said, "I am. It's the weather."

He said, "I'll excuse you. You can go home."

So now I'm home. I have taken my second dose of painkillers. I'm going to bed. :P

:hi:

2. The only time I was ever summoned for Jury Duty, I didn't make it at all...
Supposed to call ahead of time, and listen for a recording to confirm(24 hr number), the night before we were supposed to convene. I called, and our Jury meeting or whatever was canceled.

7. Staten Island.
This was country court.

I'm due to get called for Federal Jury Duty soon too. And that involves traveling all the way out to either Brooklyn or Long island. x(

I think by showing up today my Federal Jury Duty gets pushed back by 2 years though.

It's a very good thing. Sometime this morning, the weather triggered a migraine. That would have truly sucked, being in court and hoping for meds to work. :(

This is a very good day to hibernate. :)

34. I've been told that it's totally obvious when the pain gets bad.
My voice changes, and it's written all over my face, and my posture and movements change.

It would be interesting to see a video of me in bad pain just to see what it is I'm doing that everyone else sees.

39. Jury duty one block from my home wouldn't have been bad.
Especially if I ended up on a long trial. My boss would finally have to get someone trained to cover for me. Though, I have no idea how he would train someone in my work when he doesn't know how to do half of it himself. :P

As it is, I'll just go back to work tomorrow with a backlogged workload.

43. That's a kind jury clerk!
I seem to always get stuck on the panel - stuck through voire dire - then struck from the panel (I work for and am married to a criminal defense attorney, I used to work for attorneys that do plaintiff's work in Personal Injury/Worker's Compensation cases, the legal community here isn't very large and we all get to know each other after awhile).

Hope the weather clears and the pain subsides soon.

We've had rain most of the day, which melted all the ice that fell last night, thank goodness! The region suffered from a lot of car accidents...some serious. There was an apartment building not far from here that suffered a collapsed roof; but people were evacuated before anyone was injured, luckily. We're supposed to end with a little dusting of snow tonight.
