Classical music?
I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on classical music for excercise-specifically running.

I need to update my IPod( I just copied everything I had onto it) and was thinking that instead of 3 minutes pop/rock songs perhaps some classical music would be interesting. Don't worry there is alway Moby!!

Anyway I found this list on a runnersworld forum--OPINIONS?? Is there anywhere that I can listen to entire pieces or even snippets on-ling FOR FREE???

Anyone else try classical music on their runs?

Suggestion for some tunes:

JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 - Allegero
JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 - Allegro
JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 - Allegro
JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 - Allegro assai
JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 - Allegro
JS Bach - Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 - Allegro 1
Vivaldi - Concerto for Violin, Op. 8, No. 1, "Spring": I. Allegro
Vivaldi - Concerto No.6 in A Minor, 1. Allegro
JS Back - Harpsichord Concerto No. 1 - Allegro
JS Bach - Harpsichord Concerto No. 1 - Allegro 1
Haydn - Trumpet Concerto - III: Allegro II. Molto Vivace
JS Bach - Keyboard Concerto No. 1 in D Minor, BWV 1052: I. Allegro
Mozart - Piano Concerto #20 In D Minor, K 466 - 1. Allegro
Mozart - Piano Concerto #20 In D Minor, K 466 - 3. Allegro Assai
Mozart - Piano Concerto #24 In C Minor, K 491 - 1. Allegro
Mozart - Piano Concerto #24 In C Minor, K 491 - 3. Allegretto
Beethoven - Symphony No. 5 in C-Minor, op 67 - 4th movement: Finale; Allegro
Beethoven - Symphony No. 4 in A Major, Op. 90 - "Italian": IV. Saltarello, presto
Beethoven - Symphony No. 6, 1st Movement (Allegro Ma Non Troppo)
Beethoven - Symphony No. 6, 3rd Movement (Allegro)
Beethoven - Symphony No. 6, 4th Movement (Allegro)
Beethoven - Symphony No. 9 (Scherzo)

you need some Rachmaninoff and Debussy on that list too. great list

1. How well do you like classical music, and which periods do you particularly like?
What kind of music are you wanting - something that you can get really absorbed in, or something that's just light background noise? Do you need something with a constant tempo, or are you looking for something more interesting? What kind of tempo - fast, slow, etc.? Does it need to be in 4/4?

6. See now I have to use my brain
I do from time to time like light backround music but mostly I like to get absorbed in it. Not to be inspecific.

Constant tempo is pretty much what I am used to (I run to the country beat-seriously) but I think I could do with a mix of sorts.

Probably fast.

So let's recap
Both
Both
mostly fast

Thank you

Do you know where I might be able to sample some of that there ClassEEcal music?

3. Well I'm a baroque fan so I'd add Handel's Water Music and Royal Fireworks to the mix.
Maybe some of the Bach Preludes and Fugues, which are shorter than the Concertos.

The Vivaldi Concerto in G major contains the 'Presto' that motivated Roy Scheider's character in 'All That Jazz' ("It's showtime, folks!")

4. Crap now I have to learn a whole new load of music
DO they have anything in an uncomplicated "Tiffany" type mode?

You may not bee surprised at how unmotivating some John Prine songs can be.
