I am recovering from a bought of pnuemonia. Whew! I STRONGLY recommend against it!
I spent 30 hours in hospital getting IV antibiotics every 4 hours and a nebulizer treament every 6. Then all day Sunday on the couch, and all day Monday attending an important meeting by phone. (Still on the couch.)
Fever's gone, and i'm feeling a little better each day, but still pretty weak. Walking up steps just wears me out!
So, if you can do anything to prevent a chest cold from turning into pneumonia, do it! It hurts! The Professor

Sorry you have been so sick. That's awful.
But I'm glad you are on the mend.
Yes, I suck down decongestants when I'm sick. Anything to prevent it sliding down into my chest.

My dh is a very healthy/active guy. He bikes at least an hour each day and conquers some seriously steep hills with many switchbacks along the way. He got hit with pneumonia two years ago - it started with a chest cold. Despite his strength, it took him out for weeks. He said it took almost two months to not feel weak.
So word to the (very) wise: don't push it. Stay on that couch!

She's at 2 weeks today since the onset of head cold. We thought it had gone to a URI when she came back coughing like crazy after a 3 day weekend at her Dad's. But after a Dr. visit the next day, we found out it was early pneumonia. Even with antibiotics, the Dr. said she would get worse(it peaks at a week) before she got better. He was right, last Friday she sounded awful..but this week she's back and school and not coughing as much or as tired. She's also learned to keep her scarf over her face when she goes to school..she said it hurts to breath in cold air.
Take care, give yourself time to rest and recover. I hope you feel better soon Professor.
