My hubby, who is generally well spoken, was giving a rant about something political when, all of a sudden, he used the word hyperbole correctly. Except that he said hyper-bowl. I had the distinct impression that he had only ever read the word and not heard it pronounced. I corrected him and he's been saying it correctly ever since. Not true with other words.

|
We'd go out with my friends and he couldn't really contribute to the conversation. I'd have to explain stuff to him later. I also had to explain jokes, which just ruins them anyway. He also watched tv with his mouth open, so I had to kick him to the curb. He was a decent guy though.

19. Always dumb or just sometimes? |
|
The dumbest guy I ever dated was fantastic in the sack. But if we weren't being physical he bored me to tears. Add that to the fact that he couldn't hold a job, frequently drank from morning till night and liked to argue about the least little thing, and the sex was just not worth it. I said goodbye.
I guess it's how much dumb can you stand?

He did that ONCE in a restaurant, out with a group of my friends. My dear friend David never even looked up from his menu, just icily said "it's quiche, and keep your voice down."

It's been a LONG time since I last visited. A friend of mine from LA moved there about two years ago (used the equity from their house here to buy a HUGE house free & clear--I'm jealous!).
They love living there, and she's been trying to get me to come out for a visit since forever. I need a football fix!

College Station has grown a lot.
You know, the former students sunk Wellborn Rd so they wouldn't have to walk over a pedestrian walkway from the parking lots in north campus? That cost MILLIONS. Oh, and the new student activity center (gym) has a rock wall. Seriously.
You'll like Kyle Field with The Zone though. More people = more noise. :)

37. They'd had a problem with pedestrians being struck trying to cross Wellborn. |
|
So I can't really blame them too much for lowering the road (I covered a couple of those incidents for the Batt, in fact).
I can't WAIT to see the changes at Kyle Field since the last time I was there.
Do you know whether the Cow Hop or Deluxe Burger Bar are still open over in Northgate?

39. Well, lowering the road was the expensive way! |
|
But, I guess if you're elderly, walking up a ramp and over a foot bridge and down again is uncomfortable. I just love how the state made them pay for it.
I do not think either the Deluxe is around, but I'm pretty sure The Cow Hop is. A cow pie and fries was a great, cheap meal (when the place hadn't been shut down by the health department, that is).

My roommates and I would hoarde those things! There were always coupons for free frozen yogurt, good ones for Double Dave's, and the $1.89 cowpie, fries & iced tea special at the Cow Hop!
I'm sad the Deluxe is gone, though--that place had GREAT burgers.

Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 07:12 PM by Winebrat
Happened today on a Bay Area radio call-in show. A women called an on-air lawyer complaining that Western Union sent a letter to her son calling him "Niger."
The boy's name happens to be Nigel. The lawyer was certain Western Union regrets the typo.
