YES! YES! YES! FIGURED IT OUT!!!! YEAAAAAAAA!
I've been working on an access database for creating project proposals. Other than the usual name/phone numbers yadda yadda, it also has to list the machines being used and the additional components for each machine (motors, switches, pumps etc)

many of these components have a power consumption amount.

what I was having problems with is getting access to give me a GRAND TOTAL Power amount. in other words, add up all the power amounts for each of the components

spent the past 2 days, reading access for dummies, searching the internet, posting on tech assist boards and even asking for help here on the DU

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

finally I came across an obscure little post on an obscure little tech site that had the freaking answer!!!

CROSSTAB QUERY - won't get nerdy on you, suffice to say - I tried it, tested it and the FREAKING THING WORKED!!!!

the bar is open - name your poison!!!

I always find my answers (mostly for excel VBA) on little obscure tech sites, too.

3. Microsoft documentation is definitely the road to nowhere...
In grad school it took 3 different books and hours of trial-and-error searches in the Excel help files to figure out how do do what I needed to in the visual basic module.
