55 hours awake, followed by 5 asleep: don't ask me a damn thing.

The Potomac Primary may be over, but the first concentric ring of fallout should be apparent by the Sunday DC-based talk shows.

YAWN!

Don't ask me a damn thing. I'm watching mindless TV, scarfing down some cold manicotti, and I'm thinking bed again soon.

P.S. BEST. PRIMARY. DAY. EVER.

2. My dear CorpGovActivist!
Sorry, baby...

I have a question:

Where in God's good name have you been?

I really missed you last night...

I'm sorry you got so little sleep, though...

Best Primary Day Ever, indeed!

3. I could tell you, but I'd have to hug you.

As I mentioned recently, I don't skimp on sleep lightly.

But when the need is great, I'll cut my visits to the Nightly Neverland short.

Still: it's been many a year since I've pulled a double all-nighter.

With the domestic and foreign press coverage of this race converging on DC, and with some key contacts of mine also converging on DC under cover of electoral chaos, it provided a not-to-be-missed window of time to exchange some vital information.

I could almost retire from the rest of the 2008 race as happy man and spectator now. Almost.

: )

How have you been Ms. Peggy? DU (and you) were very much in my uppermost thoughts, sleep-deprived though they grew.

Patrick says I woke up from my nap a little while ago laughing, and that when he asked me what was so funny, I said I'd just heard the best joke about the Clinton Campaign.

:eyes:

If only I could remember the punchline from the dream now.

5. Hugs are always appreciated!
I've been fine, thank you!

I just tried to reach you via your AOL IM...

But you weren't signed on...

Sometime I really want to chat, either that way, or by phone...

I'm glad you had such good reasons for staying up!

And I'm sorry you couldn't remember the punchline from your dream...

8. Especially good ones! "No half-assed hugs." That should be a bumper sticker.

Or maybe that's just the manicotti talking.

"I've been fine, thank you!"

Well, DU (and you) really were in my thoughts. Yes, you're very fine, indeed!

"I just tried to reach you via your AOL IM...

But you weren't signed on...

Sometime I really want to chat, either that way, or by phone..."

If you'll give me a raincheck on that, I think I'm going to set the timer on TV so it goes off, and hibernate a spell longer (my inner bear cub got just enough new food to want to crawl back in the nice, cozy cave). The manicotti is having its marvelous effect. Mmmmmm...food-induced coma.

"I'm glad you had such good reasons for staying up!"

I just wish there'd been at least one good story to tell you from it.

"And I'm sorry you couldn't remember the punchline from your dream..."

It's my own fault. I didn't put the notepad and pen back on the nightstand the other day. Sometimes, if you don't jot those dream-state items down within 30 seconds, they're lost.

But isn't it wonderful to wake yourself up out sleep, laughing?

9. It is wonderful to wake up, laughing...
I have never done that...

I have gotten my lazy body out of the warm bed to come in here to my study to write down the inspired thought...

I'll be happy to give you a raincheck on talking!

Anytime will be good...

This weekend (Sat through Mon) I will be in Palm Springs, though...

So after that....

Sweetest of dreams!

13. REALLY?!? Never?!?
I rarely talk in my sleep, but I've woken myself up laughing frequently since I was very little. It's a great way to start the day, or to roll back over and go back to sleep.

"I have gotten my lazy body out of the warm bed to come in here to my study to write down the inspired thought..."

Must've been a good one! Hope we get to see the fruit of it. Try keeping a small notepad and trusty pen on the nightstand. A pen that lights up will keep from waking anyone else in the room, with enough light to scribble by, too.

"I'll be happy to give you a raincheck on talking!"

Well, I've reached the point where I can write cogently again, but can't figure out whether I'm in the middle of boiling my Mountain Dew or putting ice in my hot tea (and yes, I really am taking in caffeine hand over fist to stay awake until I can get back on a regular sleep cycle tonight). So IM would be cool later, but I'm not about to make a first impression by phone with you right now. *giggle*

7. You're holding up five hands, with the same number of fingers...
... on each.

10. Oh, sweetness. That's what I thought.
Honestly, I hope you can sleep well and actually catch up a little at a time. I've done not exactly the same, but close, as you. I was both wired and fried.

I'd play you some Boccherini or Schubert if I could.

16. No classical or box fan hum was necessary last night. Back out after the bite...
... and 9 solid hours.

After I get to bed at a normal hour (for me, anyway) tonight, I'll be A-OK.

Thanks, tho! And HVD!!!

14. The answer to that is simple, and has two parts: (1) the love in it; and (2) the depth of my ...
... exhaustion precluded microwaving.

It's just that damn good. My partner is amazing. Even cold, the manicotti is marvelous.
