To my fellow wheezers -- how are you adjusting to the new-style asthma inhalers? |
|
I had been stockpiling the old kind so I just got my first new one the other day. I know it's probably just anxiety on my part but I feel like it doesn't propel the meds as deeply as the old-style inhalers. And while I'm being a whiny old lady...you kids get off my lawn!!

1. I'm squeezing the last few shots out of my old one |

I've got a new-style puffer in the closet, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm expecting it to suck, but at least it wasn't 10x as expensive, which I figured they would pull on us...
And we weren't on your damn lawn! We were walking on the curb, which belongs to the city, not you!! I'm telling my dad you threw lemons at us!1! Pppppththttththhh!!!

5. You mean the purple UFO??? |

Advair? I guess it's OK.
It's for chronic use, not acute situations.

6. No the new albuterol HFA |
|
I hate Advair. I participated in the drug studies on it and it really didn't do much for my asthma but it did increase my acid reflux (but I did earn $1800 by participating in the study -- such a deal!). I'm pretty well controlled on Singulair but for acute symptoms I use albuterol. They've outlawed the old formula and they use a different propellant now. It's kind of cool in that now the canister counts how many puffs you've used so it's easier to tell if it's going empty or not but it doesn't shoot as forcefully as the old-style inhaler. I'm just getting used to it but it feels like it doesn't go in as well as the old kind. All a matter of getting used to it I'm sure.

did not notice much difference, use it maybe once every other month or so. Old one was way expired and on a inhaler training kit-so who knows.
