Need good lounge vibes for "Lucy", she is being spayed today.

I hate having to have her go under the knife but it is the only responsible thing to do as a pet owner. I know that its a relatively safe procedure but a couple of good vibes shot her way couldn't hurt!

4. Thanks MB!
One of my concerns is that she is a chewer. I asked that they give her one of those "lamp shades" so she doesn't chew on her stitches. I am going to have to go to work tomorrow so hopefully the shade will prevent any problems. I will try to take a photo of her when she returns (everybody gets a laugh out of a dog with a lampshade on its head!)

5. All six of mine are spayed/neutered.
Even though there is no chance one of my males will get her pregnant I don't want the coyotes drawn to her.

21. My old dog's mother was supposedly a coy dog
and was named 'Coy'. She was a foundling, and the veterinarian told her finders/keepers that one of her parents was probably a coyote, though I'm not sure how (s)he could tell.
I love the name 'Lucy', in fact if our son had been a daughter he would've been 'Lucy' or 'Sarah', nickname- 'Sally', which is what we named our dog.

P.S. I always remind people not to let their freshly-operated-on pets drink too much water when arriving home. My family had a standard poodle when I was a teenager and after she was spayed we had to rush her back to the vet for emergency surgery when she experienced gastric torsion after drinking a lot of water. She looked like a pregnant ewe as her stomach bloated. :(

Get well quick, Lucy!

24. Thanks for the water warning- she laps it up when she drinks.
I have a pack of coyotes roaming nearby, I believe they are attracted by the chicken barns down in the hollow. I hear them yipping all the time. I would hate to have my dogs get mixed up with them trying to protect Lucy. At some point I am going to have to take care of the coyotes though, they are getting too close for comfort.

15. Thanks for the vibes!
I appreciate it, she is the sweetest thing. It was funny but the other five adult dogs just took to her right away when she showed up this past fall. It was almost as if they "adopted" her.

This is a picture of her on the night she showed up. I came home from work & she was sitting in my dog house waiting on me.

Not only is it the responsible thing to do, but she will be happier and probably live longer.

17. Thanks applegrove, we appreciate the vibes!
Big operation but necessary. I have five other dogs & couldn't afford a full litter joining the pack! I am not one to give away "free pups" to strangers so I would have to keep them. I guess I could afford it but I would have to build an addition to the house to have enough room!

13. I dropped her off at 8am- supposed to pick her up after five.
They like to keep the patient there all day to keep an eye on them. I haven't gotten a phone call saying she is dead yet so I am assuming things are going well. (I hope)

Of course you are worried. I am sure she will be okay.

Is it laster surgery? My vet does that, and the recovery time is much quicker.

Be well, Lucy!

What a cutie!

I had my little furball spayed 2 weeks ago and she was back to her self in no time at all. Its amazing how quickly they recover from this but even so, its hard not to get apprehensive for them. Vibes are incoming for you and Lucy!

I'm sure everything will go well, and you are doing the right thing. My daughter and I volunteer weekly at our local humane society animal shelter and the number of animals without a home that come through on a regular basis is staggering and heartbreaking.

Hope all goes well for Lucy!

30. Once again, lounge vibes have saved the day!
She was still groggy when I picked her up and is sleeping peacefully on my bed right now. I payed extra for them to do blood work & and extra for a Rimadyl injection for pain. They said the blood work was to check for any liver/kidney problems that might cause trouble with the knockout drug.
All the other dogs gathered around the bed to take a sniff of her because she wasn't "right" but Larry got up there with her and warned them all off (he is protective of her). She ought to be back to normal soon.

Thanks for all the good vibes, Lucy & I appreciate them!
