Has anyone whose had DISH satellite service |
|
switched to DIRECT, and if so, do you like them better?
Are there some cool features DISH doesn't offer?
And was it a pain to switch over (having to have the satellite dish replaced, new fees, etc.)?
I'm at my wits end with DISH.
Communication and technical support are certainly not its forte.
75 percent of the time that I call, I end up having to ask for a supervisor because the unqualified employees on the other other line react as though I'm speaking Chinese.
It's TECHNICAL support. Hello.
I'm convinced these people are the ones who allow their VCR clocks to blink indefinitely because they can't figure out how to change it.
And they're the ones who are "helping me?!" :eyes:
What a joke.

1. I've come close..the reason being the NFL ticket on Direct... |
|
I share your frustration with their customer service. Save yourself some time and immediately ask for an account manager. Tell them you want to cancel and they will give you the account manager immediately.
I think service wise they are pretty much identical. Dish has better receivers at this time. Direct has the Sunday NFL Ticket.

2. Yea, when I talked to the tech support stooge, once again |
|
I asked for a supervisor -- mentioned how frustrated I am -- and it turned out she was really nice, and helped solve my problem.
So I'm in a vicious circle of being irate and wanting to cancel immediately, to cooling down after being transferred.
I'd love to know what the backgrounds are of these "technical support" people.
On second thought, maybe I don't. I'll only get pissed off more!!

3. I asked once and the lady told me they were not allowed to tell me the country they were in... |
|
the second time I asked, a guy said he was in South America. I got passed around a few times once trying to get a receiver upgrade, and got a different price from 4 different people. The account managers are the only ones that can get anything accomplished anyway. I just go to them automatically now, even if I have no intention of cancelling.

American.
However I have spoken to them in the past and the person sounded very East Indian.

7. I don't have a problem with them not being here... |
|
but they are not knowledgeable about the serice or products, or their knowledge is outdated. Do you use the high definition service from them? Dish is better than Direct in that regard right now.

11. Well actually I have a problem with companies |
|
outsourcing since it takes away tech jobs -- not to mention some of the accents are pretty hard to understand, IMO.
But that's a different discussion. :)
I don't use high def *yet,* but that's good to know! Thanks.

8. We switched to Direct from Dish a couple of years ago |
|
because we couldn't get local stations on DISH. We are in the New Orleans Market but I was offered affiliates from Dallas or Detroit. We didn't have any technical difficulties from DISH and we haven't had with DIRECT. Our switching was no problem at all.

12. We've had Dish for a while - prefer it to Direct TV |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-14-08 02:07 PM by NewJeffCT
much better Chinese language programming packages, and seems to be better overall service - we rarely have problems with reception.
Also - Dish network = George Soros Direct TV = Rupert Murdoch

13. I have had DISH TV for about 7 years... Never any major problems. |
|
I guess I have been lucky with the tech support. The few times I have called..they were helpful and courteous.
