VERY recently I've decided to think the same way. My attitude adjuster goes like this: I'm not in a relationship, once in a while it's lonely, my brother calls to tell me that he and his "boobie" (live in girlfriend) are having a scrumpdiddlyumptious Valentines Day with the candles and little whatnots and the cutesy-poo sentiments and later they're going to *blah, blah* and I'm going to try, TRY not to think of him as SMUG.

My heart goes out to you, because I know exactly what you mean. (Or maybe that is presumptuous of me, but I think I know where you are coming from.)

After a while of deconditioning yourself, you will think of yourself as normal and everyone else as crazy. It's absolutely nuts to chase after these fantasies; our lives are short. I have to tell you a story. I had a young woman working for me. She was 25 and very cute. I hired her, I supervised her, managed her workflow, told her when she was doing a good job, told her how cute her boyfriend was... Long story short, one day, out of the blue, she started being very pissy with me and I couldn't figure out why. Nothing had changed that I could see. A few days later she was walking past my desk. I was brushing my hair quickly after lunch, and I stopped her to pass on a few tasks. She said, "Don't flash that mane at me!" and walked off. Then I realized her attitude changed after I got a new haircut (very long hair, grows too fast to keep styled, so I only cut it once or twice a year, a foot at a time, and the rest of the time I braid it into bondage). So, she had hair envy. I almost couldn't contain myself! I was laughing hysterically on the inside. You see, I am 50 years old! Twice her age! She's a size 2 and I'm a size 16!!! LOL!!! I'm cute, but not THAT cute! LOL!!! So, I showed her pictures of my kids... 22, 25, & 28... and told her she should never be jealous of a woman twice her age... we are only 20 something for a short time!

Cute fades. Intelligence, a sense of humor, kind heartedness... these are the things that matter! I'd rather be 50, single and smart, than 25 and dumb enough to be jealous of a woman twice my size and age! LOL!!!
