I found out today that I was approved for SSD, (Social Security Disability.)
Here's the prior thread:

What a relief. This has been almost a five month process just to get approved on the first round. It also includes Medicare, which will cover the hospitalization and Dr bills I had for kidney failure after I applied for disability.

What a relief and load off my mind. And SSD will back pay retroactively up to a year before the application date. I'm not sure of the details yet, but they will at least cover monthly payments from when I first applied in September.

Life is good, and I am so relieved that I just had to share with everyone. It was the best possible outcome, and I was expecting the worst, and endless Appeals.

So, I can concentrate on my next order of business now. I am so curious about who gave me a heart! Fess up! And put me out of my misery!

Only about 40% get approved on the first application.

And thank you. :)

4. I know how you feel..
It's a big relief to get that approval notice. Glad you could join the club. I asked for everything and got it the first time too. :)

5. They required a follow up with my Dr in December, and
I wasn't able to get in to see him for a month later in January. He was certain he could get me approved then, but I didn't want to get my hopes up then.

Thanks :hi:

6. Congratulations! It really is a relief to have the health benefits.
Especially since if you are on disability you probably take medications. Mine are so ridiculously high I would spend my whole SSD check and more just to pay for them.

I'm sure you feel the relief.

9. It should with the new drug benefit. You may have to pay a small co-pay
but drugs are now a part of Medicare.

7. I'm so glad you were.
Some of my clients need to apply for SSDI, and unless they are a para- or quadriplegic, it's almost an automatic "Rejected" on the first few go-rounds.

Congrats on getting the assistance you need.
