1. The running chicken reminded me of....
elementary school early '60s. President Kennedy was big on physical fitness and implemented the US Physical Fitness Program.
http://www.jfklibrary.org/Historical+Resources/JFK+in+History/The+Federal+Government+Takes+on+Physical+Fitness+Page+2.htm

"Possibly the oddest contribution to the effort was the "Chicken Fat Song." Written by Meredith Willson, creator of The Music Man, and sung with enthusiasm by Robert Preston, the actor most responsible for that musical's success, the “Chicken Fat Song” was produced in a three-minute, radio-friendly version and a six-minute version to accompany schoolchildren during Council-approved workout routines.

The song didn't get much airplay, but for tens of thousands of children doing sit-ups in school gyms around the country, the cajoling chorus of "go, you chicken fat, go!" became ingrained in their memory....."

Here is a link to the long version we exercised to in gym class.

They did a remake of it in the '80s:

Anybody else remember this? Yes, I am OLD.

3. #1 photo EXCELLENT!
So in the moment. Makes it look like the chicken may just have a plan of escape!

Well done! :toast:

13. i like that breed, they're special
if i ever get chickens again and plan to hatch chicks, rather than just for eggs, i will get the silkies, they are so charming and they'll incubate anything such as quail eggs also :-)

5. I saw two chickens in someone's front yard this morning.
I saw one there yesterday, near the road... and I figured she had got loose from someone's back yard. But then today, I passed the same house, and there were two out there. Do people let their chickens just roam around? It seems like a good way to get your hens stolen.
