I can spend 5 minutes online, and then I have to go back into mydark room and wait for the pain to subside. x(
I've maxed out my meds for today and they're only partially working. It's been over 12 hours now and I still have grinding, stabbing pains and my eyes ache. Today officially sucks really badly. :(
I miss a whole lot of you. I'm sorry I am not able to post much.
If you've got a working magic wand, and you can make all this pain go away, please, please, please, I beg you, make it all go away.

4. Migraines are horrendous because the pain doesn't allow you to think of anything else. |
|
I'm so sorry that you're in pain! Maybe a cold compress and lying down in a dark room for a little bit will make it diminish?
I'm going to the attic to look for my magic wand...

unfortunately (for you) you would have to wait in line.
My wife has taken as much imitrex as she can and valium. She just took some ibuprofen and another valium.

7. Cool damp washcloth at back of neck can work wonders on a migraine |
|
Place the damp washcloth where base of skull and neck meet.
Give it try for your next go round of lay down

12. How miserable. I'm so sorry, ThomCat |
|
One of my sisters gets migraines and so does my husband. If they can nip it in the bud, they're OK, but once it gets rolling it's just agony. I hope your migraine goes away quickly and you don't have that 'migraine hangover' my loved ones seem to have for a few days afterward....
What a crappy way to spend a Saturday!

17. I DO have a magic wand: it's called BOTOX |
|
I'm serious. I used to be plagued by severe migraines-at least two a month, often more. I was reading a magazine article about off lable uses for various drugs and treatments. It stated that women who got Botox injections noted that their headaches-migraines included-completely disappeared while the Botox was in effect (typically six to eight months per injection). I was desperate so I made an appointment and had four injections done in my forehead. I could raise and lower my eyebrows, but I couldn't furrow them-that's the real effect. No one has ever said anything about the change in my appearance other than "you look great"! and "you seem so calm and together" (lol! They don't know that I just can't look incredibly pissed off). But, the best part: not another headache of any kind EVER! I used to have so many regular headaches that I usually took eight Tylenol a day. Thats MUCH more dangerous than Botox!
My doctor says that Botox does not want FDA approval for other medical uses because it would cut too deeply into their cosmetic profits (how that works I'll never know). Another friend has it shot into her neck and arm to halt the pain from her post polio disorder and carpel tunnel syndrome. It's great stuff; too bad the company that owns the patent let's people continue to suffer the way that they do when they have a cure for the pain of migraines!

all my female relatives have suffered from migraines from 97 grandma to 8 aunts. We finally figured out our triggers...
foods in combination....not alone:
chocolate, nuts, red wine, cheese, ....haven't had one in 15 yrs! may not work for you but it was a lifesaver for us.

Peppermint tea seems to help.
