I just watched Goldfinger while making scones, mushroom chowder, and roasted pork chops
Scones - cherry and cranberry.

Mushroom chowder using leeks, carrots, celery, fennel, chicken stock, savory, butter, and bacon and I will add some Half & Half and clams just before serving.

Pork chops were sauteed in the pan I sauteed the mushrooms in, and then I sauteed thick slices of onion and fennel for just about 30 seconds or so after taking the chops out, and added a bit of chicken stock to deglaze the pan, then put the chops on top of the onion/fennel mix, put some thick-sliced bacon on top of the chops, and put in some asparagus coated with olive oil and Kosher salt and popped those in the oven.

The soup and the chops should be done in about 15 minutes or so.

And Goldfinger just ended, so it's time to fire up another Bond flick - possibly Dr. No, possibly The World is Not Enough.

I wish I had Thunderball on DVD - that's what I'd really like to see. Or even From Russia With Love.

Oh, well.

Cheers!

Oh, and the scones are fucking awesome!!

I used this recipe, which I'd never used before, but IS BRILLIANT! Though I have to admit, I didn't have enough unsalted butter, so about a third of the butter asked for was clarified Plugra (a butter with higher fat, and, which clarified, is missing all its solids).

(I used dried cranberries AND dried cherries for this recipe)

2. Oh, I also have some chicken broth a'makin' on the stove
which I will use the chicken for salad, and the broth - I'm not sure what I'll use that for. Perhaps some Pho later in the week.

I wish you could come to dinner, but ever since you left your post, I just can't trust that you'd actually show up.

4. "From Russia With Love" (1963), "For Your Eyes Only" (1980), or Casino Royale (2006)
Dr No was good, no argument on that, and "From Russia With Love" currently can't be beat... though "Casino Royale" comes close...

Sounds like a tasty dinner too!

5. I ended up watching Man with the Golden Gun
Perhaps the best of the Roger Moore Bond flicks.
