I have to find a new place to hide the cat toys.
Went to Petsmart the other day to get some mousies
http://reviews.petsmart.com/4830a/2751889/reviews.htm
because Wimsey loves to play with them...and they get lost.
He'll ask for a mousie and if I can't find one he's already got out, he gets a new one.
ONE. AT. A. TIME.

I got tired of fiddling with the plastic packaging, so I just took them all out, and stashed the mousies in one of the cubbies in the cinderblocks that comprise my highly fashionable brick-n-board bookcases. Top cubby, mind you, out of Wimsey's line of sight.
Don't know if he smelled them or he saw me putting them there, but I caught him today, helping himself to another new mousie...and there were already three on the floor.
These guys are too smart for me. :hide::yoiks:

Both he and Riktor know where the catnip is stashed too...in a cubby on the other side, but since it's in a jar they don't bother it. They recognize the jar though...I can hold it up and get the HALLELUJAH, CATNIP!!! chorus.
Even silently removing it from the cubby will wake Riktor from a sound sleep in another room...
talk about a Familiar-Summoning spell...works better than a can opener.

Makes for a good bribe positive reinforcement and reward for good behavior though...
they KNOW that when the jar comes out, they will get catnip. ALWAYS.

1. They are too smart for us.
My Gang of Fur (all three) have taken to stealing socks out of my dresser. Only my fuzzy socks, mind you. But they will pry the drawer open, take the socks downstairs and leave them on the living room floor.

I don't know why they do this.

6. You should put together a portfolio of his "installations."
They'd look great enlarged to about 4' across, hanging in a gallery with those little spotlights on them, and a bunch of arty people wearing black turtlenecks and little bitty glasses standing around drinking white wine and comparing them to Mapplethorpe.

9. what's strange, ocelet -
Riff Raff did this non-stop in his first home but has not done it since I moved in December. Same water bowl - now it's on hardwood flooring instead of carpeting - could that have cured him? :o

13. disclosure on this one, ocelot
I brought a big beautiful leaf in from the patio and dropped it on the living room floor, betting that Riff Raff would put it in the bowl and it would make a cool picture. Unfortunately, he mangled it for ten minutes before dumping. :(

5. When Barney was a baby..
he used to rip the heads off the micey. How he just bats them around and throws it up in the air.

14. I've given up on hiding cat toys.
Mine either find creative ways to get them, or use something of mine as a substitute cat toy! (Batting breakable figurines off of tables is teh fun!). As it is one cat will drag a toy she wants to play with over to me, meowing at the same time(listening to a cat trying to meow while having a toy clamped in their mouth is pretty funny though)
