25. In what?
Grant did comedy and drama equally well. If Peck ever did comedy, I'm not aware of it — but something tells me he could've.

OTOH, Grant was 0 for 2 in the Academy Awards while Peck was 1 for 5 — and he should've gotten one for "Twelve O'Clock High." Peck was capable of superior performances; Grant wasn't.

I think that Grant was the better actor...slightly. Grant could effortlessly do comedy as well as drama.

Both were very handsome men.

34. Impossible choice
So much depends upon what you want.

Grant was the better actor. He had a greater range than Peck. He could do comedy; Peck was rather hopeless at it. Further, Grant could bring a depth and darkness to a dramatic role. When Peck had a role he believed in, like Mockingbird, none better. Important point: Neither ever, ever phoned in a performance; you always got your money's worth -- often with interest.

As human beings, Peck gave back to his society beyond his profession. He tried to make the world a better place. Grant was a loner. He took care of him and his, but didn't seem to do more.

Looks? Grant in a tux was one of the most beautiful constructs of the 20th century. Peck could wear anything (or nothing) and nail you with those eyes and that voice ... that voice.

35. I'm reminded of Ginger's answer...
...to a similar question when the Professor was checking Gilligan's mind-reading abilities. They asked her, "Gregory Peck or Rock Hudson?"

When Gilligan read her mind he came up with "Rockory Hudpeck," since Ginger couldn't make up her mind.

So, in honor of that, I'll say, "Caryegory Grantpeck."

40. Never cared for Grant at all.
I can't even explain why. I just didn't like his screen presence. Peck, yes. Grant, no.

An ex-girlfriend came over for dinner one night and brought her copy of "Bringing Up Baby" for us to watch. One of the longest nights of my life.

54. Gregory Peck was just physically beautiful
Grant was handsome, and funny, and had me swooning in Notorious and North by Northwest, but something about Peck just stops me in my tracks.

Peck's father owned a pharmacy/soda place in La Jolla, California; the store was in the exact same spot as a gallery I worked in while in college. AND one of the La Jolla regulars who used to own the movie theater (back when the theater had an orchestra) knew the Peck family and said they were all just extremely kind and nice people. And my friend, Spencer, is himself an absolute peach of a man, so I believe him. :D
