Skunk vs Squirrel

While on my morning walk I heard these horrible high pitch cries of despair and a sort of high but not as high pitch growl and grunts as I came to the top of a hill...animals or birds fighting I thought, at first I couldn't tell if the sounds were in the trees or on the ground but as I topped the hill there was enough light from the street lights a few house down to see something was writing on the ground.

Turns out it was two somethings, a Skunk and Squirrel fighting.

And the Skunk wasn't that much larger but clearly had the advantage.

Who knew a Skunk and Squirrel could have such animosity?!

1. That must be one tough skunk

I've heard that squirrels can really fuck you up. Needle sharp claws and teeth.

2. I figure the skunk got the drop on the squirrel

and with his slight weight advantage kept the upper hand.

Wonder what started it though.

Squirrels can get really nuts over their food stashes....:D
