Have you ever called yourself a dingbat
for something you did wrong and were embarassed about?

I have a drink blender, with a plastic pitcher and the screw-in-the-bottom blades and gasket. When run, it also has a spigot on the pitcher for dispensing those wonderful drinks when they have been whipped, mixed and pureed.

I had some trouble with the unit the last time I used it, though, and couldn't get the base to unscrew. It just wouldn't undo, so I had to wash the pitcher with the base attached.

It didn't come completely clean, though, and I've been trying time and time again to unscrew the bottom to give it a proper cleaning. I even had a friend give the base a go, and even he couldn't undo it.

So tonight, I used a hammer to pound on the base to see if I could loosen it enough to unscrew it. And it still wouldn't come off. So I was going to examine it to find out who made it to get a new pitcher. And there, on the base, on the bottom, it had two words, and two directions: Tighten <-- and Loosen -->

Guess what I've been doing? It never occurred to me that the directions were the opposite of normal ones. :silly:

Two seconds later, I had the base off and in the dishwasher.
