Someone in high school should not have this kind of workload.
In a 4-day weekend, I've had a massive history project, a chemistry lab, and an english essay to do. All due tomorrow.
The project and lab are done. The essay is not, and it's 8:30 at night.
This is nothing special. If it's not one thing, it's another.
All I ask for is the abillity to get a decent amount of sleep (i.e. not working until 1 a.m., having to get up at 7 the next day), and a weekend or two to myself once in a while.
In the last 4 days, excluding math tutoring, I've only been out of the house for about 2 or 3 hours. And I'm paying for it dearly.
Stupid school system.

I'm a university student, and I totally agree with you. Homework sucks big time, doesn't it? My only advice is to try to get more sleep. I find I'm a lot more productive if I'm rested. If that isn't possible, try to work in short bursts - work for a bit, take a break, have a snack or a drink, get back to work, repeat. Hopefully things will calm down for you at some point soon, so you can take a breather. Good luck with the essay.

Homework has to be done early. Too bad I learned my lesson too late.

5. I seriously feel like I'm not going to be able to finish the essay. |
|
It's just not working. Which is awful, since I never hand things in late without asking for an extension well in advance.

Try to do as much as you can, but don't feel too bad about asking for an extension if you can't get it done tonight. If you can show your teacher something, it at least shows that you tried, and if they know you normally get stuff done, they'll probably be ok with granting an extension. These things happen to everyone sometime.

My outline is pretty much done, and I have my introductory paragraph. If I show her that, I suppose it means I'm well on my way... and perhaps it won't look like I just slacked off?
Because I didn't. I'm trying.

I'm sure no one will think you slacked off. I certainly don't. It sounds like you've had a hellish weekend. You seem to have the basic idea of what you want to write, it just needs fleshing out. Maybe try to get some sleep. I always write better in the morning, and sometimes get a flash of inspiration when I first wake up. Perhaps you can write a bit more if you have time in the morning and are feeling refreshed.

All hail February vacation! :P :P
Sorry about the monstrous load of homework, though. I rarely get bogged down, since I have a tendency to do homework in other classes as well as simply make up shit, but when I get hit with a slug of work...gahhh.

I just gave an exam on Thursday, had to be in early on Monday to give two make-up exams before teaching my general biology lab, I'll be up until 3:00am tonight getting my bioinformatics lecture ready for the 8:30am class tomorrow morning, and my students will _still_ bitch about not getting their exams back tomorrow, even though I just got all of the completed tests back the afternoon before!

It really wasn't that interesting, since 98% of it was math.
