Know the neighbor . org Check who's signed the ban gay marriage petitions
http://www.knowthyneighbor.org/

Florida just got enough signatures to put it on the ballot and there are a couple other states on here. I haven't found anyone I know but I did find some addresses close to me. Maybe I'll mail them some gay porn. (OK J/K! But it would be fun)

1. Thanks for the link!

I noticed several people in my zip code filed affidavit's claiming they want their names off the petition because they were told they were signing petitions about wine sales.

Edited to add that I was reading some more affidavits from my city and saw some people stating they signed it because they were approached by men claiming to be gay and asking them to support gay marriage.

2. Wow that information is at the link? I wonder if it is true. I would hope
that the 650,000 people that you need to get an amendment on the ballot in
Florida are not that mean and petty.

3. I saw at least one person I know signed
and he lives near the place most people in my city, who object to their names being on the petition, say they were approached so I've been trying to get his phone number to see if he was mislead into signing it.

I also think I saw an ex of mine on there. He and his brothers all have the same first name but he's the only one that uses it. His brothers use their middle names. I can't speak for all his siblings but I know he would never knowingly sign it.

This type of thing is the biggest problem I have with petitions. Yes people should read everything they sign but it's easy to shove a few pages in somebody's face when they're leaving Target and mislead them.

4. Gay marriage is the biggest red herring the right wing has ever made an issue
I just cringe everytime I hear them say that banning it would be "protecting the sanctity of marriage".

What they hell does the marriage of two guys or women have to do with the sanctity of ANYBODY'S marriage but their own?

That this is even considered a political issue is a bunch of horse shit.

And, I wonder why it really isn't considered a "pursuit of happiness" issue for gay people? I would have to check to see if it is in Florida's constitution, since it isn't in the US one, but in the Declaration of Indepedence. But, really, doesn't saying that a whole class of citizens can't get married infringe on the pursuit of happiness?
