of my Mother's death from cancer in 1961.
I was 15 and my sister was 5.
NO CONDOLENCES PLEASE.
It's strange how memories can affect one. She died at home, almost in my arms. She hung on till my Dad got home from work a few minutes later.
Of course it changed my life. A home becomes a house without a Mother.
All my memories are fond, and her sayings: "Manners maketh the man" "A man's hair is his crowning glory" (I think this is why I had long hair before the Beatles)
She taught me old time dancing - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, because she said that a man who can dance will never be short of female companions. TRUE as it turned out :)
As I said NO CONDOLENCES PLEASE.
I just had to say it somewhere.
Her name was Margaret (Pearl) - her old workmates used to call her Pearly.
Dunno why I posted this.

Sounds like she was an incredible lady (as was my Mom), and you were fortunate to have her for the years you did. You are who you are in large measure because of her.
Thanks for posting.
