What are the worst movies you've seen recently?
I've had the misfortune to see some real stinkers lately.
These 3 are just terrible:

The Good Shepherd
The Good German
The Fountain

Interesting that 2 of them have the word good in the title because they were anything but. :puke:

1. Were they that bad?
I've seen the two "Good" movies, and found both of them sort of middling. They both had the potential to be better than they were, but they weren't horrible. They weren't, say, Transformers-level bad.

6. I thought they were terribly miscast for one thing.
And yes, I did think they were some of the worst movies I've seen recently.
Maybe not the worst of all time... although The Fountain is in the running.

I haven't seen Transformers. Probably won't bother with it even on cable.

2. "Balls Of Fury" was pretty bad.
It had a few laughs, but dont be expected to see the next Anchorman or anything.

9. It looks like a rainy Sunday afternoon movie.
The kind you watch when you plan on falling asleep sometime during the movie. :)

33. That's about it.
I love Reno 911!, but those guys cannot write decent scripts. They should stick to the characters that they play best.

4. I thought The Fountain was good.
I try to avoid bad movies, but occasionally I'll intentionally watch things I know are horrible. Most recently, The Number 23 and I Know Who Killed Me.

11. I've thought I'd try watching The Number 23 just because
I've heard how bad it is. Sometimes those are just the perfect thing to make fun of.

5. aw, come on...The Fountain was great
of course, it was Aronofsky, who is admittedly stone-crazy. I enjoy his movies, though.

8. I'm really surprised that anyone likes that movie.
I'm not kidding when I say that it may have been the worst movie I've ever seen. It made no sense whatsoever.

13. Sure it did...
They were all the same people.

Plus, and he gets many, many bonus points for this, there's virtually no CGI anywhere in the movie. They did the effects on a shoestring budget, and it's one of the most visually powerful movies I've seen in a while.

Pi or Requiem for a Dream?

If so, did you like them? FWIW, Requiem is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Are they similiar to The Fountain? 'Cause if they are I'll know ahead of time to avoid them. :7

23. I liked Pi and Requiem For a Dream, but I really disliked The Fountain.
I thought it said very little, but it said it very loudly and pretentiously. The characters were underwritten and unlikable, the story was obvious, and the visuals were the most stunning use of the color brown I've ever seen.

I've got to go with azmouse on this one.

10. The Golden Compass
Now, before you light me up, consider this: I've never read the books, and so watching the movie was a HUGE disappointment because it really has no ending. It's as if the movie stops in mid-reel. Bogus.

in this case I went with my family who all had read the books.

36. I just finished the books yesterday
and I saw the movie first and enjoyed it but yeah you kinda have a point about the lack of ending, I still think the movie "The Golden Compass" is fair entertainment but now having read the books it seems incomplete.

12. I only made it 15 minutes into "Shoot 'Em Up" before I turned it off.
It was too violent for me. Me! Who loved 300 and Sin City. It was just gross, so over the top, but not even in a funny satirical way. Just fucked up.

"Castaway" was 1000 times better. Maybe even 10,000.

I just saw this on a plane. OMG - total fucking crap. Like a bad romance novel, but with a less cogent plot, and even less character development.

28. The Good German was awful!
Read the book. It was very good and nothing like the movie.

I like to watch Japanese "horror" flicks (Ringu, Ju On, Audition, etc) so I thought I'd rent a couple of the "Afterdark Horror Fest: Films to Die For" series. Crap! Absolute crap! Infact, I've seen a couple of them on Sci-Fi.

31. I'll give the book a try.
There is often a disconnect between a book and the movie made from it.

One of the biggest problems I had with the movie was the casting of Tobey MacGuire as a tough guy pimp. He's just so wimpy looking. He works as a geeky Spider-Man but he should never be cast as a bad guy.

38. No spoilers, but....
Tobey's character is only in the book for about the first chapter and they left out 2 important characters-one of them was essential to the story. There are just so many things wrong w/ that movie (as compared to the book) that I could go on and on. But yes, read the book-it's great.
