Woo, Mo-Fucking Hooo!!!
My doctor from the V.A. just called and said my catscan/MRI's have been checked and I just have an infarction in my arm-bone. No mass no other scary shit. Last Wednesday and Friday I had been irradiated, scanned, poked and prodded. For the first time in my life I had to talk to an oncologist, and that was not fucking cool. All day today I've been dreading a call saying I'm fucked and just now the phone rang, but with good news. Woot! :woohoo: Woot!

10. I got tons of shit to do.
Since I've been in pain I've not been very productive. Umm, just might toss my board in the van and paddle out. That's how this shit started last December up in Santa Cruz, and it seems like a good way to end it.

27. I was supposed to do a sweat the weekend before last, but it was canceled.
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 10:33 PM by puerco-bellies
And last weekend I was thinking about who should do my healing ceremony. I would use native ways for spiritual strength, and what ever modern chemistry can do empirically. I knew if I got into prayer I could center myself and quite those fears, but I've been a little off balance since last Wednesday.

34. A private lodge near me (San Pedro) is a womans lodge.
Only women are allowed to pour water (lead the sweat) in the lodge, but it is open to men occasionally. I have had the honor of being fire-tender on a couple of occasions. It is sort of my "home" lodge and I will call the leader and see if I can have a ceremony to offer my thanks there.

39. May I offer you a bit of advice, as a former professional custom jeweler, and owner
of several jewelry stores (in other words, I know what I'm talking about)?

"Puerco-Bellies'" workmanship, from what I've seen, is absolutely first-class.

Not to disparage anyone, but in a field as large as that of Southwestern Indian silver-and-turquoise jewelry, there will obviously be a wide range of workmanship and quality available. Much of it, like any other product, will be on the lower end of the craftsmanship and quality scale. That's just the way things are in any marketplace.

But if you're looking for "truth" in Southwestern Indian jewelry, in that you want something made by a craftsman who genuinely beleives in his craft, and has the talent to produce quality pieces that reflect that dedication to the craft, you need not search any farther than our own Puerco Bellies.

That's a kind of long-winded way for me to tell you what you already know about his workmansip and talent. I just went on and on like that in the hope that other DUers would see my post and, because of it, look into his work.

He really is good. And the information you posted about your own situation was damn good to hear, as well.

That is Ali's question. I have a PT rehab appointment in a few weeks and will get some answers then. The infarction (Dead tissue) is contained to the inside of the bone and not the surface/structural part. It is caused by loss of blood supply but they are stumped as to why.

When it occurred I felt something tear in my shoulder so the when is a known thing. The what and why are the questions.

I cracked open a celebratory Orange Crush, I finished my IBC's last night.
